Downtown Development Manager for BOOTS Alexis Bozzo recently attended the National Main Streets Conference in Oklahoma City and learned a wealth of information that will assist BOOTS in many ways. One of which was the need to form four committees by the beginning of June consisting of community volunteers for the organization. Each committee will be headed by a business owner in Old Town and the skill requirements are listed below:
1. Promotion (2 Meetings Per Month + Your Promotion Project)
- Marketing Consultations
- Web Assistance
- Special Event Planning
- Assists Historical Society in Hosting Tours
2. Economic Restructuring (1 Meeting Per Month + Acquiring Speakers for BOOTS)
- Building Consultations
- Customer Loyalty
- Business Planning Assistance
3. Design (2 Meetings Per Month + Your Design Project)
- Façade Design
- Design Technical Assistance
- Murals for Old Town Sherwood
- Window Displays
- Signage for Old Town Sherwood
- Banners
- Downtown Decorating
4. Organization (2 Meetings Per Month + Assisting With Daily Operations)
- Works with Downtown Development Manager on databases
- Responsible for Staffing the Main Street Office with Volunteers
- Volunteer Recruitment
- Fundraising Assistance
- Membership Recruitment
Besides these four committees the organization is seeking YOUNG PEOPLE from Sherwood to form their own Main Street group as they are the future Main Streeters. This group’s name will be determined by the young people who are the founders. A total of 10 to 15 kids are needed from the following grade levels: 7th to 11th. We’d like three children from each grade level and look forward to working with all of you. Please contact the BOOTS Downtown Development Manager Alexis Bozzo for more information about both Main Street committee groups at sherwoodoregon@gmail.com .
